Week 13: Emergency Kickers and Defenses
K Nate Kaeding, San Diego Chargers - Kaeding has been horrible for much of the season. He turned it around last week with by far his best performance of the season. In Week 13, the Chargers travel to Kansas City to face the Chiefs. The Chiefs defense is stout, especially at home. That should lead to a couple of field goal attempts for Kaeding, who has been good at converting the few attempts he’s had this season.
K Matt Bryant, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Bryant and the Bucs play against the New Orleans Saints this year, a team that has been poor defensively as of late. With the Bucs banged up offensively, they might have to rely on the foot of Bryant to supply most of their points. Bryant has been solid this season with 18 field goals, five of which were from at least 40 yards.
D Washington Redskins - After the tragic passing of Sean Taylor this week, the Redskins are sure to play with a lot of emotion. Whether that emotion works for them or against them is to be seen but it could be worth the risk in fantasy football. The Redskins take on the Buffalo Bills this week, a team that has trouble putting points on the board.
D Atlanta Falcons - The Falcons defense has been decent as of late and this week they take on the St. Louis Rams without Marc Bulger. In Bulger’s place will be Gus Frerotte, who has struggled in relief this season for the most part. He’s turnover prone and lacks mobility in the pocket. If the Falcons can get any sort of pass rush, they could force plenty of turnovers this week. The Rams have had some horrible weeks offensively this year and without Bulger, this could be another one of those weeks.
