Jerry Porter 2008 Fantasy Perspective
Looking to add more talent at the wide receiver position, the Jacksonville Jaguars recently signed Jerry Porter to a contract. Porter spent the first eight years of his career with the Oakland Raiders.
While the last few seasons in Oakland were tumultuous for Porter, he was at one point in time regarded as one of the best up-and-coming young wide receivers in the game. Now the soon to be 30-year-old will have to prove he still has some gas left in the tank.
Twice in his Raiders career he had nine receiving touchdowns. Even last season in what was basically an off year, he had over 700 receiving yards and six touchdowns. What can we expect from Porter in 2008 on the Jaguars?
Porter has a real chance to have a very good season in 2008. He’s a skilled wide receiver who is going to a team with a good quarter in David Garrard. The Jaguars also acquired Troy Williamson this offseason, who should be a good partner for Porter. Porter as the main threat in Jacksonville’s passing game should be able to top 1,000 yards receiving and score between six and eight touchdowns.
