The Fantasy Kickoff - Fantasy Football Tips

Jamaal Charles - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect

by Kori Ellis on February 20th, 2008

Jamaal Charles Stats
As a junior in 2007, Jamaal Charles got his first chance to carry the load. On the whole, he played very well. He finished the season with 1,619 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns. His 6.3 yards per carry is an impressive number. In the Holiday Bowl, Charles had 161 yards and two touchdowns in his last game for the University of Texas.

Jamaal Charles Analysis
The one thing you can’t question about Jamaal Charles is his speed. In addition to being a football star in high school, he was also a track star. His speed in the open field is extremely impressive. That said, at 6-foot-1 and 206 pounds, Charles needs to get bigger to thrive in the NFL level. Right now, he’d get beat up after a few games.

Jamaal Charles Fantasy Projections
The NFL team that drafts Jamaal Charles will likely do so to put him in a backup role in his rookie season. Due to his speed, he could possibly be a return man on the NFL level. In 2008, Charles shouldn’t have too much value in fantasy football. However, in a couple years he could find himself as a starter if he continues to prove doubters wrong.
