Fantasy Quarterbacks To Consider
Are you hurting at the quarterback position? If so, there are a number of options out there to consider. There are a lot of injured quarterbacks, meaning there are a lot of quarterbacks trying to earn the respect of fantasy owners.
Here’s a look at some quarterbacks that could be available on your waiver wire in your fantasy league.
Cleo Lemon, Miami Dolphins - Lemon showed good potential against the Browns on Sunday. He has a pretty good arm and is deceptively quick on his feet. He’s still a risky play because he’s on a bad team, but Lemon is someone who you can pickup and see if he keeps playing well.
Tim Rattay, Arizona Cardinals - With Matt Leinart out for the season and Kurt Warner ailing, the quarterback job in Arizona looks to be Rattay’s until Warner is ready to go. Normally, a guy who played as poorly as Rattay did on Sunday isn’t someone you want to pickup. However, the Cardinals have a good offensive line and very good receivers. That’s a recipe for success at the quarterback position.
Vinny Testaverde, Carolina Panthers - Testaverde might be closing in on 50 years of age but he’s in a good situation. He played well. And with Jake Delhomme out for the season and David Carr injured and struggling even when he is healthy, Testaverde might remain the quarterback. With Steve Smith on his side, he could easily have decent numbers from here on out.
Kerry Collins, Tennessee Titans - Vince Young has a strained quad and is listed as day-to-day. If he misses any time, Collins is the next in line. While he’s been pretty good at times in his career, he’s never done much on the Titans. If you want to pick him up, keep him on your bench until he proves he can play.
Kellen Clemens, New York Jets - While Chad Pennington is still the starter, Clemens is waiting in the wings and will likely take over the job at some point this season. The Jets have some good receivers and Clemens has shown talent, so he could have good value if he gets the starting job down the line.
Byron Leftwich, Atlanta Falcons - Joey Harrington isn’t exactly making anyone forget Michael Vick in Atlanta. Leftwich probably won’t do much better but there’s a great chance he is named the starter at some point this season. If he starts, he could put up pretty good fantasy numbers. That said, the Falcons’ lack of receivers would make a lot of quarterbacks look bad.
