Brett Favre to Unretire? Fantasy Football Perspective
Not everyone is sold on Brett Favre staying retired. A lot of league pundits fully expect Favre to play for the Green Bay Packers next season. The thinking is that Favre loves the game too much and has too much left in the tank to walk away now.
After Favre’s magical 2007 season, everyone expected him to come back in 2008. The retirement talk was a surprise to even those people close to him.
If Favre were to return to the NFL in 2008 and play for the Packers, how would that affect the fantasy football world? After the way he played last season, it’d have cause quite a ruckus. Favre is probably a top ten fantasy quarterback at this point.
Last season, Favre had more than 4,000 yards and nearly 30 touchdowns. While his number would surely dip a bit, Favre would still be a solid fantasy quarterback. He would have solid receivers around him, a capable tight end and an up and coming running back. The pieces are there – all Favre has to do is come back. Will he comply?
I’m not prepared to close the Brett Favre chapter just yet.
